Charlie Gaynor

I became interested in photography while at the University of Kansas where I graduated in Commercial Art. The Army called so I attended the Army’s Photography School at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey and was Honor Graduate; the reward was to be sent to Vietnam where I was the personal photographer for General Creighton Abrams in Saigon.

Fast forward: My passion is seeing things in color or it may just be the play of light... my camera is the tool that allows me to create the images that I would paint if skilled in that art. I see design everywhere; I like to think of my work as discovering "found images" in everyday life then freezing them into a rectangular format. The biggest compliment I can receive is when a viewer thinks that my work is a collage or somehow manipulated; it is merely what is there in a fraction of a second, often never to be duplicated again.
